I know exactly why you’re here; I’ve been there too!

Your office is starting to look like chaos, you feel disorganized, and that cup on your desk has been sitting there for a few days now.

…And is that mould growing inside of it?!

I get it. We all get busy; you’re constantly overloaded trying to do your job. You don’t have time to worry about that coffee stain, or the bin in the corner overflowing with paper.

Why? Because you have work to do!

Whether you work in an office or have your own home office, clutter, dust, and dirt will always find a way to creep up on you.

One day you’ll just walk in and it’s like it’s appeared out of thin air! And you swear it did too.

But unfortunately, the reality is, it didn’t, and it could’ve been prevented too.

But don’t worry. At In-Tec, we know all the simple tips and tricks in the book to keeping your office looking clean and tidy every day. That’s why in this article, we’re going to go through 7 of them with you right here, right now.

Maintaining your office cleanliness

You want to keep your workplace sparkling from morning to afternoon. By implementing the following 7 steps, you’ll notice a huge difference in employee productivity and the overall cleanliness of your office.

Let’s get started!

1.   Keep your desk organised

Keep everything organised!

It’s important to find a home for everything that you may have lying around on your desk. Minimalistic is better. From pen holders to mini drawers that sit on your desk, little things like that will ensure that no small items are lost in the sea of items swarming your desk.

This way, you won’t end up searching through hills of rubbish trying to find something if it already has a place.

2.   File and de-clutter

We are in 2022 people! Technology has become so advanced that the use of paper isn’t necessary these days.

Piles of paper can add up very quickly, and before you know it you have a mountain of paperwork that needs to be filed.

I understand that sometimes it’s required to have a physical piece of paper for certain things, however, as soon as you’re done with it, make it a habit to file it. This way you’ll avoid documents scattered across your workspace.

3.   Keep the floor debris free

You always want to make sure there’s nothing lying on your floor.

Of course, rubbish on the floor makes the place look cluttered and unorganized. But it also can cause workplace accidents if someone accidentally trips, and no one wants this to happen.

But it’s not just things like paper and rubbish that you need to be aware of, it’s also all the hidden things lurking on your floor, especially carpet.

Your office is a commercial space that witnesses a staggering amount of traffic on a daily basis. Carpets can easily harbour dust, bacteria, and germs within the fibres.

Your floors need to be regularly steam cleaned (carpet) or scrubbed (tiles) to keep them from serving as a source for all kinds of nasty things.

4.   Don’t leave rubbish lying around

It’s a good idea to buy multiple rubbish bins if you work in a big office. A little bin under your desk is very helpful and will save little bits and pieces floating around.

You also want to make sure that bins are emptied regularly to avoid overflows and stop potential pests visiting your office.

No one wants cockroaches or other bugs squirming around the workplace.

5.   No eating in the office

Now I don’t mean you have to leave the whole building, however, it’s in your best interest to eat in a lunchroom. Or if you work from home, eat anywhere but your office.

If you eat around your desk, there’s no doubt that you’re going to leave crumbs everywhere, and accidentally spill something – it’s inevitable.

You don’t want to create more work for yourself so make sure to eat your lunch in the appropriate areas.

And who knows, you might even start up a friendly chat with someone from the office.

6.   Clean as you go

Cleaning as you go will save so much time in the long run. If you don’t, it will make a small task turn into a bigger task as time goes by.

And trust me, a big task could have you wanting to pull your hair out by the end of it.

If you see a spot on a desk or crumbs, or maybe there are some dishes on a bench that need to be put away, just do it. It will probably take you less than 5 minutes and won’t turn into a larger task.

Not only is this beneficial to you, but if you encourage team members to follow this principle, it will result in a clean office the majority of the time! In the process, they will become more responsible and treat the office space as their own home.

7.   Hire a commercial cleaning company

I promise this isn’t some type of subtle advertisement to encourage you to consider our business!

If you want to ensure that your office is kept 100% germ free, hiring a commercial cleaner is the best choice to achieve this goal.

Good commercial cleaning companies are experienced and trained in office cleaning and are always equipped with the appropriate cleaning equipment and solutions to get the job done. This can include disposable microfibre cloths, eco-friendly cleaning products, battery-powered mops, and many more.

A professional cleaning service can eliminate all your worries. Let them do their job so you can go back to doing yours.

Why is it important to keep a clean office?

It’s vital to keep a clean office because it will improve employee morale and productivity, and it will make you feel more relaxed being in an environment that isn’t surrounded by clutter or dirt.

It also means that customers, clients, and visitors will be walking into a presentable establishment. And believe me, they will notice!

You might even get complimented on keeping such a clean, fresh office!

By following these 7 steps, your office will look fantastic in no time. However, in order to get the best results and ensure your office is constantly clean, you should invest in a commercial cleaning company. They can eliminate 100% of germs, bacteria, and viruses by regularly cleaning, sanitising, and disinfecting your workplace.

Not only will your cleaners do an exceptional job, but you’ll also walk into work the next morning stress-free because you know it will be clean and ready for the day ahead.
