What does carpet steam cleaning actually involve?
Steam cleaning (also known as hot water extraction cleaning) involves injecting hot water into your carpet using a high-pressure jet spray, then vacuuming the water back out. During this step, dirt is extracted out of the carpet with the water.
We first vacuum your carpet to remove any dust or surface dirt. Then we spot-treat any stains and marks with a cleaning agent. The next step is to use a pre-spray to soften the surface tension of the carpet. Then we agitate the carpet with our cleaning machine, taking the time and effort to extract as much water as possible from the carpet.
As part of our cleaning process, we use a gentle deodoriser on your carpets, leaving them smelling fresh and clean.
How long does it take for carpet to dry after steam cleaning?
Generally speaking, it takes around 24 hours for carpets to dry. But this depends on a number of factors, such as what your carpet is made out of. Woollen carpets take longer to dry as wool fibres absorb more moisture compared to carpets made out of synthetic materials.
The weather will also play a role in how long it takes to dry. On hot days, drying time is quicker, but if the weather is humid, drying can take longer. Finally, if your carpet has heavy soiling and stains, more water is needed during the cleaning process, which increases drying time.
How soon can I walk on my carpets after steam cleaning?
You can technically walk on damp carpets immediately after steam cleaning, but we do not recommend doing this. It’s best to wait at least 6 hours, otherwise there is a risk people will slip over when stepping off the damp carpet onto slick surfaces such as hardwood, linoleum or tile.
Therefore, it’s best to wait as long as you can before walking on freshly cleaned carpet.
Do I need to leave the air conditioning on after my carpet has been steam cleaned?
Yes. Your air conditioner works to remove humidity from the air and helps to dry your carpets much faster. Unless you can leave all your windows open while your carpet dries, we need to leave your air con turned on to prevent moisture settling into the carpet. Otherwise, you’ll end up with damp smelling carpets which will be a breeding ground for mould.
When is the best time to arrange carpet steam cleaning for my business?
The ideal time would be after your business has closed for the day and everyone has gone home. Our cleaning team can get the job done while no one else is around. Then the next day, one of our operations team members will meet with you to ensure the job has been completed to your satisfaction.
However, if it’s just not possible to arrange cleaning after hours, we can do it during business hours for you. Just get in touch with us and we’ll work with you to sort something out.
What do I have to do to prepare my business for carpet cleaning?
You don’t need to do too much. We can work around desks, chairs and other heavy furniture. We just ask that any personal and valuable items are moved up off the floor and out of the way. Same goes with boxes and chair mats.
Do you also do upholstery cleaning?
Yes. In fact, we encourage you to consider getting all your carpets and upholstery cleaning done at the same time. You might as well get any office chairs and reception furniture cleaned to save you time and money doing it later.
Can you also clean my other floors at the same time?
Absolutely. We can clean all types of indoor and outdoor floors. Click here to read about our floor cleaning services.
Can I arrange a one-off carpet clean with you or do I need to need to sign a locked in contract for repeat cleans?
We can perform one-off carpet cleaning or periodically scheduled cleaning depending on your needs.
How much do you charge for commercial carpet cleaning?
To be able to provide you with an accurate and detailed quote, we first need to arrange a site visit with you at your premises. We’ll do a quick walk through, assess the condition of your carpet, get the size of each room, discuss cleaner access and then put together a tailored quote. This quote is completely obligation free and we don’t charge to come out and meet you.
How long will my carpets stay clean after steam cleaning?
Unfortunately, there’s no simple answer to this question! It really depends on how old your carpet is, what the carpet is made out of and how much foot traffic there is every day. We can give you an idea of how often you should be getting your carpet cleaned during our no obligation site visit.
What sized businesses do you do carpet cleaning for?
Any size! We’ve done carpet cleaning for small offices all the way up to 2000+ sqm commercial premises.
